Comparison between F-35 and F-16 fighter aircrafts and their dogfight capability.

Comparison between F-35 and F-16 fighter aircrafts and their dogfight capability.

There was much discussion over the F-35 vs F-16 dogfight on my western fellow pages.

Especially because a report came out in 2015 detailing how the F-16 outmatched the F-35 in a dogfight. But there are key factors that need to be put on the table before forming an accurate opinion on the F-35s ability to hold its own.

First, the technology, engine and pilots were brand new at the time. Since the report of the poor results came out, much has changed about the flight operation of the F-35.
U.S. Air Force generals have said publicly that the pilots flying F-35s currently are trained to fly legacy aircraft. Essentially, the new plane doesn’t react like most of the other U.S. fighters. The next generation of pilots will be the ones to determine to capabilities of the Lightning II.

Secondly, the F-35 isn’t meant to fight wars like the F-16. The F-16 is designed with a battle, a real dogfight, in mind. The F-35, with its fused sensors and tactical stealth capabilities, intends to seek, locate and strike its opponents long before the enemy ever even sees the F-35. U.S. Air Force Gen. Mike Hostage said, “The F-35 pilot who engages in a dogfight has either made a mistake or been very unlucky.”

Technically speaking, the F-35 has a lower thrust to weight ratio – 1.07 vs 1.11 of the F-16 – an important statistic in dogfights.

Additionally, its close range weaponry is underwhelming compared to the Fighting Falcon. However, the U.S. Air Force believes that the age of the dogfight is over. Battles will be fought with the long-range, advanced technology inside of the F-35 Lightning II, not the close-range weaponry of the F-16 Fighting Falcon.

Speed:
The Pratt & Whitney F135-PW-100 engine gives the Lightning II a maximum speed of roughly 1,200 miles per hour.

The speed of F-16 is 1,500 miles per hour – roughly 300 miles per hour faster than the F-35.

Range:
F-35 have range of more than 1,350 miles with internal fuel (1,200+ nautical miles),
F-16 have ferry range of 2002 miles.

Both have celling of Above 50,000 feet (15 kilometers).

F-35 have unit cost of 91 Million Dollar
F-16 have unit price of 20-32 million dollar.

American M1A2 MBT Vs Russian T-14 Armata

American M1A2 MBT Vs Russian T-14 Armata

American M1A2 and Russian T-14 are known as the world's most deadliest tanks in this time, here is their short comparison.

The M1A2 is armed with a manually-loaded 120 mm smoothbore gun. The tank has modern fire control system with high first round hit probability.
The Abrams is operated by a crew of 4, including commander gunner and driver.
Unique feature of the Abrams tank is its gas turbine engine. It is a multi-fuel engine, which can run on any grade of petrol, diesel, aviation fuel or kerosene. The engine has impressive performance and is running silent. However it is troublesome to maintain and has very high fuel consumption comparing with traditional diesel engines.

The Armata has an unmanned turret and is operated by a crew of 3. It is in line with Russian tank-building concept, that the tank should be operated by a smaller crew in order to reduce its dimensions and weight and improve protection. However this new tank has new layout. All crew members are seated at the front of the hull in a well protected armored capsule. The gun is loaded automatically and ammunition is separated from the crew compartment.

∆.Protection system of both tanks

The Abrams is one of the most protected tanks in the world. It uses composite armor, reinforced with depleted uranium armor mesh. Also it can mount add-on explosive reactive armor. The tank is well protected against most known anti-tank weapons.
Also the Abrmas tanks are fitted with countermeasures system, which interrupts infra red and laser guidance of anti-tank missiles.
The Russian Armata uses newly-developed base armor, made of steel, ceramics and composite materials. Also the Armata has a new Malakhit add-on explosive reactive armor that is claimed to be of new generation. Protection level of the Armata tank remains classified. It might be one of the most protected tanks in the world.

∆. Guns

The Abrams is armed with a 120 mm/L44 smoothbore gun. Even though it is not the most advanced tank gun available on the market today, it packs a formidable punch. It is accurate and has a range of effective fire in excess of 4 km. Its effective range was successfully demonstrated during numerous military conflicts throughout the world. It have hunter-killer engagement capability too.

The Russian Armata is armed with a new 125 mm smoothbore gun. It has longer range and can target any tank size thing or low flying helicopters in 5km range. But it is not battle tested yet.

∆. Engine

The American Abrams tanks are powered by a gas turbine engine, developing 1500 hp. Basically it is a modified helicopter engine, that can be operated by multi-fuel.Its mobility is well proven in other lands.

The Russian Armata is powered by a new turbocharged diesel engine, developing 1200 hp. It is a new generation engine but not battle tested. It is better than other Russian tank engines but have disadvantages due to some technical faults.

so in short,
American Abrams have some miner disadvantages in range but T-14 is less capable in engine technology.

Is Operation Parakram(2001-2002) was a complete failure of indian army?

Is Operation Parakram(2001-2002) was a complete failure of indian army?

India deployed its bigger part of army on Indo-Pak border after parliament attack.

The standoff inflicted heavy casualties. The total Indian casualties were 789–1,874 killed. Many accidents during the mobilisation were due to the poor quality of mines and fuses. Around 100 of these fatalities were from mine laying operations. Artillery duels with Pakistan, vehicle accidents, and other incidents make up the rest.
Here Pakistan suffered 37 causalities.

The Indian cost for the buildup was ₹216 billion (US$3.0 billion) while Pakistan's was $1.4 billion.
The standoff led to a total of 155,000 Indians and 45,000 Pakistanis displaced, per Pakistani media estimates.

Not only for soldiers , mine became destruction for indian public near border after this operation. Only first month ,7 indian civilians killed due to mine blasts.

"Actually there was no reason to deploy hundreds of troops on border of Pakistan as Pakistan was not a Dangerous thing for us, our main enemy was China"
(Former Naval Chief of india)

Is LD-10 can become a game changer for Pakistan air force?

Is LD-10 can become a game changer for Pakistan air force?

The Chinese made LD-10 air-to-surface anti-radiation missile is a variant of the SD-10A BVR air to air missile meant for Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD), (similar to Raytheon's High-speed Anti-Radiation Missile (HARM).

The LD-10 retains the overall aerodynamic layout of the SD-10A, but has the active radar seeker of the SD-10A replaced with a new passive radar-homing seeker.

The LD-10 has been designed such as to be retrofitted faster and with minimal modifications to launch platforms, which have been cleared for use with the SD-10A missile. These include the J-8, J-10, J-11 and the JF-17.

The missile has maximum range of 80 km with a 20 kg warhead.

Pakistan air force received first 100 missiles in 2016 and became first foreign customer.

Missile have a capability to destroy air targets like AWACS or a big size aircraft too as well as ground radars.

Due to small size and its less weight, JF17 thunder can carry four LD-10 on its two dual ejectors and can fire two in a time in Su-30mki like aircraft or on SAM installation .
Missile can give hard push to JF thunder in their anti-radar capabilities.
